Early W/Z plus jets ratio measurement as a function of the jet multiplicity and boson pt at CMS
f o c u s

This team is primarily focused on the measurement of the W+jets/Z+jets ratio at CMS startup. The work is centered around early boson selector strategies, early jet selector strategies, early background constituent measurements, systematics (and other) cancellations in the ratio, factorization of the EWK and QCD part of the measurements and use of the EWK part to validate the QCD part. Both electron and muon channels are considered while the work on the tau is seen as a primarily background component. Satellite to the the ratio work e.g. on dimuon-jet balancing for global calibration in the Z to muons channel and in multijet topologies are also included. The work is a major part of the program for searches in all-hadronic topologies with MET in terms of extracting the backgrounds from the data.
